If you’re searching for martial arts near me or TaeKwon-Do near me, our pre-teen martial arts classes in Omaha, NE are designed to match the rapid growth in focus, coordination, and confidence that students experience during these important years. As children develop stronger attention spans and physical abilities, our Taekwon-Do program evolves with them—shifting from play-based learning to structured skill development, repetition, and deeper cognitive training.

Our pre-teen martial arts program challenges students to learn, understand, and apply the core tenets of martial arts—courtesy, integrity, self-control, perseverance, and indomitable spirit—both inside and outside the classroom. Through consistent training, students develop leadership skills, strong character, and the discipline needed to succeed in school and everyday life. This makes our program one of the most effective options for families looking for martial arts training in Omaha that goes beyond physical activity.

As students progress, they move into a traditional belt ranking system where advancement is earned through hard work, dedication, and consistent practice. While time in rank is considered, promotion is based on the successful mastery of required techniques and skills. Every student must be invited to test and successfully complete a level-appropriate examination before advancing, ensuring each achievement is truly earned.

If you’re looking for martial arts classes for pre-teens in Omaha that build discipline, confidence, and real-world skills, Omaha Blue Waves Martial Arts provides a structured and supportive environment where students thrive. For families searching for martial arts near me or TaeKwon-Do near me, our program offers the perfect balance of traditional training, personal development, and fun.

Building Positive Outcomes For Amazing Kids

TKD BUILDS CHARACTER

Life is different for  kids today than it was in the past.  When a lot of us were growing up our parents worried mostly about negative peer pressure.

Today’s kids are bombarded with messages that aren’t necessarily reflective of the ones you want them to learn. Television, movies, social media, and the internet are filled with negative and often dangerous content that can make growing up positively difficult.

Martial arts have been shown to build developmental assets that help children achieve more and find ways to create positive outcomes in difficult situations.

Learning and Growing …

TaeKwon-Do offers students the opportunity to challenge boundaries and find new interests in a healthy supportive environment. Students are exposed to a variety of learning styles that teaches physical skills, encourages thought, and requires commitment.

Fight Boredom and Gaming Overload

Kids get easily bored and find ways to fill in gaps. A lot of non-directed choices aren’t positive and they cause more problems than they alleviate.

Inactivity in children often leads to obesity and excess gaming can cause a host of issues including poor social skill development.

TaeKwon-Do is a focused activity that follows a curriculum designed to encourage health, mental alertness, and social interaction.

TKD IS A GREAT ALTERNATIVE BALL SPORTS  …

Many children have difficulty dealing with the pressures and personalities of competitive team sports.

Martial arts offer healthy alternative while still providing kid’s with lots of  activity that helps with coordination, balance, and general fitness. As the children grow they are able to experience martial arts competition as an individual or as part of team.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE..

The Legacy of TaeKwon-Do

TaeKwon-Do, a Korean martial art, began to take shape in Seoul after WWII, blending traditional Korean techniques with Chinese and Japanese influences. In 1957, General Choi Hong Hi, the father of TaeKwon-Do, officially named it “TaeKwon-Do,” meaning “the way of the foot and fist.” The art was formalized under the Korean TaeKwon-Do Association, later evolving into the International TaeKwon-Do Federation (ITF) in 1966. A split in 1973 led to the formation of the World Taekwondo Federation (WT).

What distinguishes TaeKwon-Do is its strong ethical code, including tenets and a student oath, emphasizing respect, discipline, and integrity. Today, it is the most widely practiced martial art worldwide.
