At Omaha Blue Waves Martial Arts, we spend a lot of time talking about the importance of consistency. Showing up, putting in the work, learning something new, and continuing to move forward are all important parts of martial arts.
But sometimes, taking a break is part of the process, too.
That’s why we’re looking forward to giving our students and families a little time to recharge during our Fall Break.
Omaha Blue Waves Will Be Closed September 14–17
Omaha Blue Waves Martial Arts will be closed Monday through Thursday, September 14–17, 2026, for Fall Break.
We hope our Blue Waves families take advantage of those four days to slow down a little, enjoy the changing season, and spend some quality time together.
Fall is a great time of year to get outside. Take a walk through the neighborhood, visit a park, enjoy a football game, go for a bike ride, or simply spend some time together as a family.
The goal isn’t to make Fall Break another list of things you have to accomplish. It’s an opportunity to step away from the normal routine and enjoy some of the things that sometimes get pushed aside when life gets busy.
You Don’t Need a Dojang to Keep Moving
While we want everyone to enjoy their break, that doesn’t mean you have to put your martial arts journey completely on hold.
You don’t need a dojang to keep moving.
A little activity during the week can be a great way to stay energized. Try stretching for a few minutes in the morning, take a family walk after dinner, practice your balance, or review a few of the techniques you’ve been working on in class.
For younger students, even something as simple as practicing a few stances or seeing how long they can balance on one foot can turn into a fun family challenge.
The important thing is to keep moving and have fun.
Make Time for Family
One of the things we love about martial arts is that it can bring families together.
During the regular week, everyone has places to be—school, work, activities, appointments, and all the other things that fill our calendars. A school break can provide an opportunity to put some of that routine aside for a little while.
Maybe it’s a family hike. Maybe it’s a trip to the park. Maybe it’s playing outside, going out for ice cream, or sitting around the table and talking.
It doesn’t have to be anything complicated.
Sometimes the best memories come from the simplest moments.
Coming Back Refreshed
Taking a few days away from the normal routine can be good for both kids and adults. A break gives us an opportunity to relax, recharge, and come back with a fresh perspective.
For our students, that means returning to class ready to learn, ready to work, and ready to continue progressing toward their next goal.
Martial arts is a journey. There will be days when things come easily and days when they don’t. There will be accomplishments to celebrate and challenges to overcome.
And that’s okay.
Progress isn’t about being perfect. It’s about continuing to move forward.
Sometimes moving forward means training hard. Sometimes it means taking a few days to rest, enjoy your family, and come back ready to go.
Enjoy the Break, Blue Waves Family!
So, as Fall Break approaches, we encourage you to enjoy it.
Get outside. Stay active. Laugh a little. Spend time with the people who matter. Make some memories.
And if you happen to practice a few kicks or stretches along the way, that’s great, too! 🥋
We’ll be back on the mats after Fall Break, refreshed and ready to continue the journey together.
Enjoy the break, Blue Waves family!
Strong today. Stronger together.
🥋🌊 We’ll see you back on the mats soon!
